Sarkozy wants enlarged forum for Mideast peace
President Nicolas Sarkozy said he will host the Israeli and Palestinian leaders next month as he seeks a more active role for European and Mediterranean countries in the Middle East peace process.
Sarkozy met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday amid questions about the fate of recently restarted peace talks. Sarkozy said Abbas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will come to Paris in October to prepare a November summit of Mediterranean countries. (AP)
