Peres discusses conversion crisis with Chief Rabbi Amar

President Shimon Peres visited the sukkah of Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar on Tuesday and praised him for his efforts to promote recognition of IDF conversions and his involvement in the renovation of Joseph's Tomb.

Rabbi Amar said he regretted the fact the US Jewry thwarted the conversion bill and the president replied that the reform movement cannot be ignored. Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabbinowitz suggested to hold a summit attended by the president, chief rabbi and US reform representatives in an attempt to solve the crisis. (Kobi Nahshoni)
