Bosnia says it has detained a convicted war criminal who fled from neighboring Croatia after being sentenced there to eight years in prison. Bosnia's top court says that Branimir Glavas was arrested Tuesday evening. Glavas is a former right-wing Croatian lawmaker who was convicted of war crimes against Serb civilians committed during the 1991 Serbo-Croat war.
Glavas fled last year to Bosnia after he was sentenced. He also holds Bosnian citizenship and had hoped to avoid prison. At the time Bosnia and Croatia did not jail each others citizens. However, the neighboring countries recently reached an agreement to jail citizens of the other country who flee to their territory. Croatia then asked Bosnia to arrest Glavas. (AP)
