4 Georgian servicemen killed in Afghanistan
The Georgian Defense Ministry says four of its servicemen have been killed in Afghanistan. The Ministry said in a statement Friday that a land mine explosion killed the servicemen who were on patrol in Helmand province. It did not specify the date or provide further details.
Georgia, an impoverished nation in the strategic South Caucasus region, is a devoted US ally. It has deployed more than 1,000 troops to the US-led coalition in Afghanistan. Another Georgian soldier was killed in Afghanistan in early September. (AP)
