UN's Ban speaks with Netanyahu, Abbas
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and US envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell Saturday, in an effort to sustain the peace talks.
In a statement, Ban said he hoped the Israeli government "expands the its restraint policy in the settlements," stressing "the need to create the right atmosphere for successful negotiations." (Yitzhak Benhorin, Washington)
