UK: Protesters gather at Musharraf political rally
Former Pakistan military ruler Pervez Musharraf addressed hundreds of supporters in Britain Saturday at a rally for his newly launched political party.
The former leader promised the 1,500 supporters gathered in central England's Birmingham that his party will be accountable to the people and said that it will have its own democratic structure and power will not be inherited. Outside the venue, a few hundred members of the Islamist political organization Hizb ut-Tahrir gathered in a peaceful protest. Some held banners that read "Pakistan needs an accountable ruler." (AP)
