US: Travel warning to Europe effective, tourists alert
The US State Department announced that the travel warning issued about Europe has led to heightened awareness of American tourists. Spokesman Philip Crowley said the number of Americans who have contacted various representatives of their country in Europe has quadrupled since the warning was issued on Sunday.
Washington called on US tourists in Europe to be alert in public places throughout the continent due to fears of al-Qaeda attacks. (AFP)
