Ukraine president says discussing joint gas co with Russia

Ukraine and Russia are discussing setting up a joint gas company, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich said on Thursday in an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro during a visit to Paris.

"We are discussing with Russia the creation of a joint company, but that does not mean a merger of the two structures," Yanukovich said, referring to the Ukrainian gas company Naftogaz and Russia's state-run energy giant, Gazprom. (Reuters)
