The Shalit family staged a protest rally outside Defense Minister Ehud Barak's TelAviv home Friday.
The protestors, led by Aviva and Noam, parents of captive soldier Gilad Shalit ,blocked several roads around the Akriov Towers, forcing the police to close the area to traffic.
Several protestors handcuffed themselves to each other and laid down in the middle of the road. Others held signs with pictures of Shalit and held signs reading "Save Gilad," "Defense Minister – Don't send us a casket" and "We won't stop till Gilad is back".
Aviva Shalit carried a sign reading "A country that forgets its soldiers will end up with its soldiers forgetting it."
Noam Shalit called on Barak to "stop hiding behind the cabinet and the government and demand that the prime minister do what it takes to get Gilad back. Let all the generals deal with whoever needs dealing with, after Gilad is back."
Commenting to recent reports saying Hamas wasable to thwart anIsraeli attempt to locate the captive soldier, Shalit said "this is another failure in a string of failures to get Gilad back."
