UN chief urges Arab League to support Abbas

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon sent a greeting to Arab leaders gathered at the Arab League Summit in Libya, and urged them to support Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas amid political differences with Hamas and deadlocked negotiations with Israel.
In a written statement, Ban stressed that he remains committed to internal Palestinian reconciliation efforts, within the Authority's legal framework. Ban also expressed disappointment over renewed construction of settlements in the West bank, noting that it violated international law. (Ynet)
