Official: More than million Israeli children sexually assaulted

More than 1.1 million children in Israel have been sexually assaulted at least once in their lives, said CEO of the National Council for the Child, Dr. Yitzhak Kadman, during a discussion of children's rights at the Knesset.

According to a representative of the Ministry of Welfare, 1,000 children and disabled people that were assaulted are currently awaiting an investigation of their case. She added that very few charges are pressed against perpetrators because children rarely testify in court, for fear of being exposed to their attackers. (Yael Branovsky)
