Nigeria: Islamic sect issues demand for amnesty

A feared Islamic sect responsible for a recent federal prison break and targeted killings in northern Nigeria has demanded an amnesty offer from the government to stop the violence.
The Boko Haram sect issued the demands to the Hausa language radio services of the BBC and the Voice of America on Wednesday. The group says it deserves a deal similar to the one offered to militants in the nation's oil-rich Niger Delta. (AP)
