Sudan rebukes UN over border buffer zone plan

Sudan's army has rebuked the United Nations over plans to set up a buffer zone along the country's north-south border ahead of a politically sensitive referendum, saying the move was a sign of either ignorance or interference.
UN officials told Reuters on Friday the world body was redeploying peacekeepers to hotspot areas along the border because of fears that conflict may erupt in the build-up to a referendum on whether the south should declare independence or stay in Sudan. (Reuters)
