Palestinian sources reported Monday that Hathem Qufishe, a Hamas parliament member, was arrested overnight at his home by Israeli forces. The IDF has not commented on the report.
The sources say troops raided Qufishe's Hebron home at 1 am. They added that soldiers surrounded his home and ordered him to get dressed and accompany them.
Qufishe was released from Israeli prison last November. He was jailed along with dozens of other Hamas parliament members in the wave of arrests that followed the kidnapping of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. In 1992, Qufishe was among 415 Hamas men deported to Lebanon by the Rabin government.
Of the 44 Hamas operatives arrested after Shalit's kidnapping, only 10 currently remain in Israel.
Hamas official Mushir al-Masri, said after Qufishe's arrest that Israel is trying to "quash the legitimate representatives" of the Palestinian people.
