NATO jets check Russian bombers over Baltic Sea

NATO scrambled two fighter aircraft during an alliance exercise in Latvia on Monday to check on two Russian bombers that flew through nearby Baltic Sea air space without identifying themselves, Latvia's defense ministry said.

Airis Rikveilis, a ministry spokesman, said two Russian air force SU-24s were spotted flying over international Baltic waters between the Latvian ports of Liepaja and Vetspils. (Reuters)
