Rivlin: Rabin Memorial Day belongs to all Israelis

None

Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin told a special Knesset hearing marking the 15-year anniversary of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin's death that the memorial day in his honor "belongs to all Israelis".

"In the past there have been attempts to connect the murder to the Oslo objectors, but just as the memory of the murder of US President Abraham Lincoln does not belong to the northern states alone, thus does the memory of Rabin belong to all," he said. "Rabin commanded us to preserve Jerusalem. For us, Jerusalem is non-negotiable and there will be no peace without it." (Attila Somfalvi)
