New GOC Southern Command steps in

A new GOC Command steped in on Thursday in a ceremony held on at the office of the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces in Tel Aviv. The exiting Southern Command Chief, Yoav Galant, who was appointed the new army chief, will be replaced by Major General Tal Russo.
The ceremony was attended by the Defense Minister Ehud Barak. The appointment will come into force Thursday night, following a similar ceremony held at the Southern Command headquarters. (Hanan Greenberg)
