Police patrol Safed in response to Jewish-Arab clashes

Police forces have been patrolling the neighborhoods of the north Israeli city of Safed on Saturday in order to prevent clashes between its Jewish and Arab residents.

On Friday night a group of orthodox Jews threw stones at Arab students who rent apartments in Safed. The event took place after the city's chief rabbi, Shmuel Eliyahu, called earlier this week for owners to avoid renting apartments to Arabs. (Sharon Roffe-Ofir)
