State Prosecutor's Office: Amona outpost evacuation 'not priority'
The State Prosecutor's Office said to the High Court that there is no intention to evacuate the Amona outpost which was erected on private Palestinian land despite the fact that it was known to be an illegal construction. It said the State is not avoiding its obligation to enforce planning and construction laws in the region, but that the evacuation of the outpost was not a high priority.
The State Prosecutor's Office noted that construction in the West Bank had become central to the political process, thus "the government's policy regarding acts which change the existing situation on the ground takes wider national interests into account." (Aviad Glickman)
