Knesset speaker tells French counterpart settlements an excuse
Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin met with the president of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher, in Paris and welcomed French intervention in the peace process with the Palestinians.
However, he claimed that Europe's support for the Palestinians was emptying the talks of content. The settlements "are merely an excuse for the Palestinians upon entering peace negotiations", said Rivlin, who also invited Larcher to visit Israel and "witness firsthand its democratic conduct".
