Foreign Ministry chief to step down, serve as ambassador in Paris

Foreign Ministry Director-General Yossi Gal will step down after about a year and a half serving in the post. During a short ceremony held at the Ministry, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and his deputy, Danny Ayalon, praised Gal for his services.

"Gal was with the Ministry during a busy period, including the Goldstone report, entry into the OECD, the Marmara events, and Operation Cast Lead," Lieberman said. Gal is expected to take up the post of Israel's ambassador in Paris, and his current post will be taken up temporarily by his deputy, Rafi Barak. (Ronen Medzini)
