Man impersonates Shalit during Gaza rally

Relatives of Palestinians imprisoned in Israel demonstrate in Rafah, step on large Israeli flag

Relatives of Palestinian prisoners held in Israel demonstrated in the south Gaza city of Rafah on Monday. During the rally, two gunmen pointed their rifles at the head of a man posing as captive IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.

The protestors, some of whom stepped on a large Israeli flag, carried signs bearing the prisoners' photos, including that of Raed Salah, the head of the Islamic Movement's northern branch.

Last year Hamas terrorists painted murals of Shalit on Gaza's streets. The graffiti portrayed the soldier as he looked in 2009 next to a mock-up of how he would look after another 30 years in captivity, his hair grey and his face beset by wrinkles.

Three month later, during another demonstration held by the families of Palestinian prisoners, an effigy of Shalit was placed in a cage alongside signs written in Hebrew calling for the prisoners' release.
