Member of Yemen-based AQAP arrested in UK

A member of the Yemen-based group thought to be behind last week's air cargo bomb scare was arrested in Britain earlier this year on suspicion of planning an attack here, Home Secretary Theresa May said on Wednesday.

The man was a member of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). "Our police and agencies have been working to disrupt AQAP operatives in this country. An AQAP associate was arrested here earlier this year," May told a security conference in London. (Reuters)
