Group asks US high court to end military gay ban

A gay rights group asked the US Supreme Court on Friday to overturn a federal appeals court ruling that allowed the Pentagon to maintain its ban on gays serving openly in the US military.

The Log Cabin Republicans challenged the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy in a lawsuit filed six years ago. While it won an initial ruling that blocked it, the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco put that decision on hold pending review of the case. (Reuters)
