US says can't confirm Qaeda downed UPS plane

The United States cannot confirm that al -aeda's Yemen-based wing was behind a September UPS plane crash in Dubai, despite the group's claims of responsibility on Friday, a US official told Reuters.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula also claimed credit for last month's foiled plot to send parcel bombs to the United States. (Reuters)
