Senior Russian official: 500,000 Russian tourists will visit Israel
The speaker of Russia's Federal Council Sergei Marinov estimated that between 500-600 thousand Russian tourists would visit Israel this year thanks to the increasing cooperation between the two countries and the lifting of the visa requirement.
At a ceremony to mark 20 years of diplomatic relations between Israel and Russia in Jerusalem, Marinov added that Russia will continue to take part in efforts to promote the Middle East peace process. Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman also attended the ceremony and stated that "Israel would not be where it is today if it weren't for Russian scientists that settled here". (Dor Glick)
