Shas to Barak: Give written confirmation for construction approval

Shas Chairman Eli Yishai demanded that Defense Minister Ehud Barak confirm in writing that the construction of thousands of housing units would be approved after the settlement construction freeze period comes to an end.
Yishai, who also holds the interior minister portfolio, mentioned specifically the settlements of Beitar Illit, Modiin Illit and Maale Adumim. Sources in Shas said the demand stemmed from Yishai's lack of faith in the US administration. (Attila Somfalvi)
