Incident occurs near Shilo settlement; man treated at Hadassah for fractures to face, skull
A resident of the Rechalim settlement suffered moderate to severe injuries Thursday night when a cement block was thrown at his car in the Judea and Samaria area. The car was run off the road and fell into a ditch.
Passing drivers alerted Magen David Adom which then transported the 40-year-old driver to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital where he was treated for fractures to his face and skull.
The incident occurred at 2 am about a kilometer south of Shilo. IDF forces scanned the area, and found leads in the nearby Palestinian village of Jalud.
The incident was unusual as most stone throwing incidents, which are a daily occurrence, happen in the daytime, with the risk of shooting incidents growing at night.
9 Issawiya residents arrested over student ambush
A security source told Ynet that it was impossible to chase and capture each and every stone thrower. "We conduct frequent lookouts and patrols in order to show constant presence in the area, but it is simply not possible to find every person who has ever thrown a stone.
These cases usually involve youths and teens who throw rocks spontaneously at any passing Israeli vehicle. When we have concrete information we don't hesitate to carry out arrests even if we need to go into schools to do so".
Meanwhile, it was reported that over the last few days, the minority division in the Jerusalem police department, with assistance from the Border Guard, has arrested four residents from the Issawiya neighborhood and five youths suspected of ambushing a group of Israeli students in a rock throwing incident two weeks ago.
Police suspect that a few of the suspects premeditatedly led the students into the village after they lost their way and stoned their vehicle, causing major damage. The youths are under house arrest, and the arrest of the rest of the suspects was extended with intent to indict them.
