Rocket explodes in southern Israel

Qassam hits open area in Eshkol Regional Council; no injuries or damage reported

A Qassam rocket fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel on Thursday evening landed in an open area within the Eshkol Regional Council. There were no reports of injuries or damage.
Earlier Thursday, an al-Qaeda -linkedgroup issued a Hebrew threat to avenge Israel's killing of two of its members in Gaza, in what an expert said was the first use of the language for such propaganda.
In the half-minute-long recording posted on a website used by the Army of Islam organization, a hoarse male voice tells the "aggressor Jews" they will not be safe from rockets and other attacks until they "leave the land of Palestine".
Another Qassam rocket was fired at Israel two days ago. It was found in the morning hours near the hothouses of the Sdot Negev Regional Council. There were no reports of injuries, but damage was caused. The Color Red alert system was not activated due to the heavy fog that night.
