Probation and demotion for soldiers who endangered Palestinian child

Two Givati soldiers who were convicted of endangering the life of a Palestinian child during Operation cast Lead were given a three months suspended sentence and demoted to the rank of sergeant at a hearing in the southern command military court.
The two were convicted of exceeding their authority and endangering the life and health of a child when they told a nine year old Palestinian child to open suspected booby trapped bags during the fighting in Gaza in January of 2009. The maximum sentence for the offences was set at three years imprisonment. (Hanan Greenberg)
