Soldiers convicted of endangering Palestinian child 'relieved' by sentence
Two Givati soldiers who were convicted of endangering the life of a Palestinian child during Operation Cast Lead said they "were relieved" by the court's decision on Sunday morning, which decided not to sentence them to an active prison term. The soldiers and their families could barely hold back their excitement after the sentence was read out.
Former Deputy Chief of Staff General Uzi Dayan (Res.) was present at the hearing and said that the decision proves that there was no need to indict the soldiers, and that all efforts must now be turned to erasing their criminal record. (Hanan Greenberg)
