EU welcomes Irish request for aid-EU's Rehn

European Union finance ministers welcomed on Sunday an Irish request for EU financial aid as such assistance would safeguard the euro zone's financial stability, Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Olli Rehn said.

EU finance ministers held a conference call at 1800 GMT to discuss the aid request, Rehn told Reuters. (Reuters)
