Senior IDF officer regrets Knesset rejection of anti-evasion bill

None

A senior IDF officer expressed his regret that the Knesset rejected the anti-evasion bill intended to reduce the number of women avoiding military service.

"The proposed bill would have reduced the number of young women pretending to be religious, and its rejection is likely to make the phenomenon more widespread," the officer said. The IDF estimates that about one third of women claiming to lead a religious lifestyle are in fact merely pretending. (Hanan Greenberg)
