Global business magazine names Netflix CEO Reed Hastings as Businessman of the Year for 2010. Israel-based company lauded by global business magazine for makes generic knockoffs faster and in larger quantities than its competitors

Global business magazine Fortune has named Netflix CEO Reed Hastings as Businessperson of the Year for 2010.

Netflix is an American corporation that offers DVD rental by mail. Its success was one of the causes of the bankruptcy of its bitter rival Blockbuster. According to Fortune, Netflix stock has gone supersonic since January, rising more than 200%

Hastings was mainly chosen for his courage: Throwing his company's muscle behind delivering television and movies over the internet, while risking his $2-billion-in-sales DVD-by-mail business.

Ford CEO Alan Mulally, who has taken the American automobile ginat "from near bankruptcy to a global leadership position", came in second. He was ranked first by Fortune readers.

Apple's Steve Jobs, who was chosen as CEO of the decade by Fortune in 2009, was ranked third, followed by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

The 20th place on the list, which includes the world's 50 leading businesspeople, goes to Teva CEO Shlomo Yanai. The Israel-based company, according to the magazine, accounts for 22% of all generic-drug sales in the United States and makes generic knockoffs faster and in larger quantities than its competitors.
