WHO official welcomes Pope's statement on condoms
The World Health Organization has welcomed a statement by Pope Benedict XVI that condoms can help prevent the spread of AIDS.
WHO's Regional Director for the Western Pacific Dr. Shin Young-soo said Thursday he hoped the Pope's statement will soften resistance, particularly from the Catholic Church, to the use of condoms. (AP)
