At the beginning of the weekly government meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that "The environmental crisis and global warming have created a huge challenge which humanity must deal with. Israel is also dealing with this crisis, for example, facing a dry winter. Which is why Israel, as a developed country must enlist in the battle and work to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions while offering technological solutions to a global problem."
"Following the environmental protection minister's Copenhagen conference commitment to reduce Israel's greenhouse gas emissions by 20%, today, the government will decide on a significant investment of 2.2 billion shekels ($500,000,000) to implement a plan that will help us reach those goals," added Netanyahu.
