Minister Aharonovitch: Criminal investigation into Carmel disaster
Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch hinted that the investigation into the Carmel disaster would focus on criminal aspects, but stressed that "at the moment there is no need for investigations. Let's wait a few hours and a few days. These questions are futile at the moment."
In a press briefing at the special Haifa University command room the minister added that "the investigation team is working. The issue is being looked at on the criminal-inquiry level. Are there factors that were neglectful, were these arson attacks. All these issues are being looked into by the Haifa region team." (Attila Somfalvi)
