EU: Settlements are obstacles for peace

The European Union's foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton expressed regret at the failure to renew negotiations to resume the construction freeze.

Ashton said that the EU has made it clear that it considers settlements an illegal enterprise and obstacles for peace. She added that developments concerning 'east Jerusalem settlements' go against the international community's efforts for successful negotiations. (Attila Somfalvi, Brussels)
