The Agriculture Ministry's forest head, Yisrael Gilon, said that this year's holiday of Tu B'Shvat will be marked by conservation and restoration of the Carmel trees and will not be a day of plantations. He said that the public is welcome to plant trees in recreation sites.
Gilon made the statements during a tour of the burned down areas in the Carmel which were hit by last week's fire disaster. The tour was also attended by representatives from the Environment Protection Ministry, the Nature and Parks Authority and the Nature Protection Society. (Yael Darel)
