MK Hasson to PM: Initiate inquiry committee or Knesset will
The Chairman of the Knesset's State Control Committee Yoel Hasson (Kadima) on Sunday called on the prime minister to initiate the establishment of a state inquiry committee into the events surrounding the Carmel fire disaster, in order to avoid the Knesset's doing so.
During the committee's tour of the fire hit area Hasson said "The prime minister has to come to his senses and put aside his political interests for the interests of saving lives. If Netanyahu brings forward a proposal for the establishment of an inquiry committee, I will take the issue off the Knesset's agenda. If he doesn't, the Knesset will be forced to move ahead with the committee proposal instead." (Ahiya Raved and Roni Sofer)
