Yisrael Beitenu to bring IDF conversion bill to Knesset vote
The Yisrael Beitenu faction is to bring the IDF conversion bill up for vote in the Knesset plenum on Wednesday, even though Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided Sunday not to vote. Yisrael Beitenu stated, "There is no halachic problem with the IDF conversions. The only reason for the current debate is Shas' desire to control the IDF conversion process too."
The faction added that "since the large wave of immigration in the 1990s, the IDF conversion process has been operating well, and there is no reason why soldiers defending the State should be harmed just because of (Shas') attempts to gain power and control." (Roni Sofer)
