Livni, Fayyad: Trust between Israel, Palestinians must be renewed
Palestinian Prime Minister Salem Fayyad said the US should present a bridging proposal in order to renew negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians. "We want to know what (Israel's) proposals are on core issues," he said. In a joint interview with Opposition Chairperson Tzipi Livni on the ABC network, Livni said, "Making peace is in Israel's interests; we are not just doing (US President Barack) Obama a favor."
Livni added that the two sides need to renew confidence between them. Fayyad agreed, saying, "It's a question of the credibility of the process. Israel is not obeying international law regarding the settlements (in the West Bank), so the question is, how can we trust the process?" (Yitzak Benhorin, Washington)
