Inbal Amoyal. Crying out on her behalf

Fire victim's father: Leaders must resign

Family members of Inbal Amoyal, who was killed on burning Prison Service cadets' bus, vow not to let those accountable for Carmel blaze to get away with it

Carmel disaster victims' families intensify their protest: After mourning the loss of Inbal Amoyal, 26, a young Prison Service cadet who was killed on a burning bus on Mount Carmel almost two weeks ago, her family has no intention of keeping silent.

"A cry must arise and shake up anyone who cares about this country," said Inbal's father, Shimon Amoyal. Following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's successful attempt to thwart the initiative to establish a national investigation commission, the Knesset's State Control Committee is expected to discuss the State Comptroller's report on Tuesday morning.

Despite the fact that they still grief Inbal's untimely death, her family members said they will not allow anyone who was responsible for the circumstances leading to the horrific fire to get away with punishment. They demand the leaders pay for the death of 43 people.

Inbal planned on continuing the family tradition and become a member of the police, just like her brothers, and serve in the security forces. She finished her master's degree in criminology and joined the cadets' course.

Her father, who had a difficult time talking about the issue, now feels a great need to speak out about the unnecessary death of his daughter. "The hedonists want to extinguish this fire so as to not allow our cry to intensify."

Now, when the Carmel blaze no longer burns, the pain becomes harder to bear. "I just want justice to come out. Whoever is stirring the ship must take responsibly for each and every cell, even the life boats – and this ship has sunk. One must know how to say: 'I failed, thank you, take the keys,'" said Amoyal.

He added: "Stop holding on to the thrown forever. It's time for this country to have some proper leaders. I have nothing against (Interior Minister) Eli Yishai, but he is alive and well, enjoying his time with the rest of the group surrounding the prime minister. Meanwhile, we paid with our children's lives. I talk to people on the streets and they all say the same thing: Enough. We can't take it any longer. I want them to go home. No need to punish them - just send away those who caused the death of my daughter."

Nir Dahan, Inbal's boyfriend up until her tragic death, finds it difficult to accept the loss. In a letter he had written her following the horrible news, he vowed that all those accountable for the mass failure will be punished.

"It's not the incitement of the fire that bothers me, but rather the fire that wasn't put out. I promise you, Inbal, the people responsible for your death will pay the price. I promise you I'll collect myself, prepare myself and not stop until justice has been served."
