MK Hasson: Fire probe only way to change leaders' perception

Knesset Member Yoel Hasson, chairman of the State Control Committee, said at the start of a meeting on the establishment of a commission of inquiry into the Carmel wildfire that "the appointment of such a committee is the only way to bring about a perceptual change among decision makers.
"A minister is not just a seat and a Volvo, it's also responsibility," he added. "There are systems in Israel which need budgets, which human life depends on. The discussed matter is a case of people who failed to view the firefighting issue as a national, urgent and serious need but as another clause in the budget." (Roni Sofer)
