Interior Minister Eli Yishai, who is in charge of Israel's firefighting services, told the Knesset's State Control Committee that he does not take the state comptroller's scathing report lightly and is in favor of a state commission on inquiry into the deadly Carmel fire.
"As opposed to previous governments, this government did something," he said, adding that "it's important to check what happened, because the firefighting services must be managed properly." (Roni Sofer)
