EU urges Israel to do more on Gaza crossings

The European Union says Israel has to go beyond its recent easing of the Gaza Strip blockade and guarantee the "unconditional" opening of the border into the territory run by the militant Palestinian Hamas group.
EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton said after Thursday's meeting with US Mideast envoy George Mitchell that Israel needs "to achieve a fundamental change of policy that allows for the reconstruction and economic recovery of Gaza." (AP)
