Likud opposition to allowance plan

During Sunday's Likud party ministers' meeting Ministers Gideon Saar, Gilad Erdan and Limor Livnat came out against the haredi yeshiva student allowance plan. Minister Erdan demanded that the plan be anchored through Knesset legislation and not just through government authorization.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz and Coalition Chairman Zeev Elkin defended the plan. Netanyahu claims that the plan isn't perfect but that it is the maximum that can be achieved. "Kadima gave the haredim much more," he added. (Attila Somfalvi)
