IDF chief: Raise age of exemption for haredim

IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi has called on the government to raise the age of exemption from military service for haredim.
Speaking at the haredi campus in the Ono Academic College in Tel Aviv, Ashkenazi said that "the age of exemption must be raised from 22 by at least two years, as long as the person has no children. The reality in which fewer and fewer young people share the burden cannot continue forever. Equality must be created." (Hanan Greenberg)
