Assad: Accept turkey to EU so you won't be Christian club

Syrian President Bashar Assad called on the EU to accept Turkey to its ranks so that it wouldn't be seen as a "Christians only club". In an interview he gave to German newspaper Bild on Tuesday, Assad said: "You must pray that turkey is accepted into the EU, since you need it as an Islamic country."
"You always speak of openness and dialogue among different cultures, but you can't create dialogue if you isolate yourselves and limit yourselves to one culture" Assad said in the interview. (AFP)
