Higher Education Council: Prevent politicization of academia

The Higher Education Council approved the recommendations of the committee investigating academic freedom in Israel, according to which all attempts to politicize academia must be rejected. Council members called for efforts to prevent a situation in which students or faculty suffer rejection or discrimination due to their personal opinions.

The recommendations were formulated following moves by the organization Im Tirtzu against lecturers who, they claimed, teach anti-Zionist material. (Tomer Velmer)
